Our Opening Blog, Keeping You Updated
From the mountains of Oregon to the beaches of the tropics the Rose & Bone General Store is a labor of passion and love. We were originally going to start this store earlier in the year, but we got this wild hair to build a purely politically inspired store to try and take on the insanity coming out of Washington DC, but that proved to be an expensive lesson in folly and META censorship. So, we folded up that table and moved some of the better designs over here to the Rose & Bone General Store. You can find some of those designs in our Political Section, "Insurgent Apparel,” where we have some great Gulf of Mexico T-Shirts and Hoodies, and some more radical messaging if you want.
Recently, in our third or fourth edit of the web site we decided to attach some photography to our mock-up models of our goods to make them really stand out and pop with effervescent goodness, so we used our own photography (except for the space pics) from around Oregon, Texas, and SE Asia. It was a fun process where we get to share our photographic adventures along with you. We hope you really enjoy our creativity. If you want to know where a scene was shot, please don't hesitate to ask.
Our goal here is to provide items you really can’t find anywhere else, no matter how hard you may try to find them. We don’t copy other people's creations, but we’ll admit to being inspired by others, seeing a lot of interesting and unique designs for many things living overseas, while paying attention to local design aesthetics. Some of what you’ll find here is inspired by our travels in and out of SE Asia, as well as older aesthetics inspired by the Grateful Dead, Phish, Burning Man, and a lot of adventures beyond the realm we call “Reality.”
Finally, the Rose & Bone is intended as a means to color outside the lines and live the closing chapters of this story by our own design. There is a page here-in where I will provide a link to the book of Grateful Dead stories we compiled, entitled, “Unusual Occurrences on the Road to Unlimited Devotion, a 452 page book of stories by roughly 750 Deadheads of their experiences on tour, and a few stories of our own.
We are purposely trying to keep our retail margins as low as possible and still try to make a living, so if things seem too expensive, please let us know. We are a little flexible in our margins and really just want to make this site affordable for most, really cheap and amazing for others, and maybe a place for a treat for some, too. We are aiming for lower prices to promote more sales of truly unique items you won’t find anywhere else.
We hope you like what treasures we have created for your unique style and lifestyle, living life by your own design. We only have one story at a time in this lifetime, so let’s embrace what we have and broaden the spectrum to include all that we didn’t know we needed quite yet. You’ll find plenty to discover in this little shop, where imagination is king and creativity is the key to the kingdom.
