Unusual Occurrences on the Road to Unlimited Devotion is a collection of stories, perspectives, poetry, and opinions about the Grateful Dead scene as told by over 750 Deadheads, as well as myself. The focus of this book is not what was happening on the stage, but what was happening out on the floor, in the hallways, out in the parking lots, highways, hotels and during the days in between Grateful Dead shows; when Deadheads gathered and traveled to see the next show, wherever it might have been.

 

These stories are the tales that people remember as though they happened yesterday and form an unforgettable legacy. These are the experiences that changed people's lives (for better or worse), tales of magic, miracles, serendipity, catharsis, unmitigated fun, misadventures, cross-country traveling, metaphysical spirituality, and grilled cheese sandwiches. There is an axiom that two people standing next to each other at the same Grateful Dead show may have two completely different experiences. This book attempts to illustrate how that was not only possible, but also quite likely.
